Bildir Yorumu Türkçe'ye çevir. Memoir is one of my favorite reading genres. Reading stories of men and women coming to faith in Christ is another of my favorite reads. Encountering a writer who delights in discussing the intersection of life, faith, and literature brings another level of pleasure. Carolyn Weber fits those categories. Her discussion of those significant topics elevates each one, giving each a sacred element. Earthly marriage is to be a reflection of our being the Bride of Christ. Her prose is lyrical and filled with literary allusions, giving multi-layers of meaning to a simple phrase. I received an advanced electronic copy of this book by Carolyn's marketing team. I was excited for the chance to read a follow-up to her previous novel, 'Surprised by Oxford'. Autobiographical in nature, Sex and the City of God takes us back to Oxford, England and reacquaints us with 'TDH' or Tall, Dark and Handsome, as well as the narrator's developing Christian faith, friendships and relationships with family. It also moves us back to her home in Ontario, and around the States as her life and relationship develops. I really love Weber's writing style; evocative and Romantic in nature, much like the authors she adores, it flows well and immerses you in the language as well as the content of her writing. I did find in parts that the jumping around in time throughout the book got a little confusing, and that bits and pieces of threads were woven through and then not given quite enough attention, but overall the message and food for thought provided by this book were well-established. A few things stand out in particular: 1 the reinforcement that we as City Of God Sex Scene are women of God first and foremost: the important emphasis of the 'ordering of loves' 2 the sin of self-sufficiency - our tendency to erroneously rely upon ourselves in times of trial and within relationships 3 The importance of truth - and the liberation that comes from living within it and finally, 4 that fear is a "petty master" 84 and is not to be trusted. Weber weaves faith, literature, love, and vulnerability together in an insightful look at a personal journey in discovering True Love with a capital 'T'. To be honest, I was a bit conflicted on how to rate this. Lewis, Theology and England not to mention a budding romance. I found her ideas and questions challenging. This book was a solid follow-up.
